I think tolls will be introduced first for the transit corridors in Bulgaria, such as Svilengrad-Kalotina and Svilengrad-Ruse, Ivan Valkov, chairman of the parliamentary committee on transport, told FOCUS – Burgas Radio.
The biggest traffic of cargo vehicles is on transit corridors, he added.
A few days ago the Bulgarian government decided to introduce a toll system on the motorways across the country as this is said to be the fairest and most non-discriminating way for paying a charge when you travel on roads.
A toll system is based on how many kilometers you drive and how much your vehicle weighs. This is probably the fairest charge, because your payment depends on the distance you travel. This is the difference from vignettes. You can buy a vignette and travel twice throughout the year, added Valkov.
